BTV's Unique Journey

Projects & Living Experiences into Films

The Great Kiskadee is a small bird that flies with the courage and optimism of life, inspired by its celebration. It always radiates good seeds from encounters that reveal new paths. In response to the call of being human on Earth, this bird traverses a current culture of crisis of meaning: the need arises to move and create through conscious and embodied research. Since 2012, it has explored territories made invisible and narratives dormant due to the colonial project – but alive in the hearts of the people.

The journey of Bem-te-vi Produções begins in distant lands, during an artistic residency in  Morroco (Progress, 2012) when the production company was founded by Brazilians Lara Jacoski and Patrick Belem. Subsequently, arriving at India (Everyday India, 2012) pThey produced their first collaborative audiovisual project. Awarded funding by the Ministry of Culture, a documentary series was created in Bolivia (Profile Project, 2013) based on lived experiences. In 2014 the transition was to Brazil Producing cultural events and creating promotional videos for artists, brands, and causes. Soon moving on to Thailand (Watch Your Waste, 2015) carrying out educational projects integrating audiovisual media, with a focus on the environment and waste. In 2016 the stop was in Camboja (Social Entrepreneurs, 2016) in artistic residence with social projects, arriving again at India (Better Days, 2016) living for 6 months across the country, producing a documentary series of inspiring stories.

With the political coup in 2017, the residency returns to Brazil with the mission of focusing on independent national projects related to popular culture and indigenous peoples. Entering the Amazon Rainforest at the Huni Kuin indigenous people territory, at Xingu Park (Kuikuro indigenous people), Mato Grosso (Xavante indigenous people), Tocantins (Karajá indigenous people) and Paraná (Kaingang indigenous people). Their focus into indigenous thematic led them to United States (Aniwa, 2019) at a global gathering of indigenous elders. During the pandemic, they edited the film captured from 2017-2019 "Eskawata Kayawai : The Spirit of Transformation"with the Huni Kuin indigenous people from  Acre, which led to the film's premiere in the United States, during the world's largest psychedelic science conference (MAPS23, USA).

From 2023 to 2025, the focus was on sharing "Eskawata Kayawai" with the world – independent distribution by the production company itself. It toured festivals with 43 selections in 20 countries, receiving 14 awards. It undertook a long 3-month in-person tour with 45 screenings in Europe and the USA, totaling 37 cities, and also had over 100 screenings worldwide, reaching a total of over 100,000 views. Screenings were held at universities, cinemas, institutes, congresses, galleries, retreats, communities, and indigenous territories in Brazil. Partnerships included the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin, Boom Festival, Tibet House, Emory University, Columbia University, Global Psychedelic Society, Chacruna Institute, and the Max Planck Institute.

Starting in 2025, Lara Jacoski will take over the direction of the production company and redirect her efforts to deepen her research and documentation with guardians of knowledge who, through their experience, teach an intimate relationship between the natural order and its ecosystem. She began the year collaborating on a research project in Peru (Kuka Saruy, 2025), producing and filming documentaries in Brazil with the indigenous peoples Yawanawá (Acre), Pataxó (Bahia) e Caiçara (Paraná). Lara launches her first book, "Professor Joel and the Banamel" about a master of popular culture knowledge, and finishes the year editing the series "Kayawai Ki Ki," which delves into the culture of the Huni Kuin indigenous people, with a release scheduled for the first half of 2026.

BTV's projects use a multicultural language, connecting local stories with global issues, bringing inspiration to remember, reflect, and cultivate change.
